English Enhancement Program
At UIC, the medium of instruction is English except Chinese Studies. In order to assist our students to adjust better to the English learning environment an English Enhancement Programme will be offered.
- What is the English Enhancement Programme?
The English Enhancement Programme is designed to help students enhance/ improve their English within a short period of time in an interesting/ interactive manner. - Who is the English Enhancement Programme for?
The programme is for all year one students and all are required to attend. - When does the English Enhancement Programme take place?
The programme takes place from September 1st to 9th. It starts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. - Why is the Programme needed?
The programme helps all new students to adjust to an English teaching environment and it paves the way for more effective learning later. - How can students benefit most from the Programme?
To make the best out of this programme, students need to join in all activities heartily and speak as much English as possible. - What is the Placement Test?
It is a test to assess students' English ability in order to place them in a class with students of similar abilities. It takes place on September 2nd. All year one students must take this test. - What happens after the EEP?
You will attend your 3-credit English Course, join an extra-curricular activity, that is, a Club of your own choice and start using English most of the time. For those who need more help to get a good score in CET4, they will be invited to join a CET4 training course. Apart from offering English courses and clubs, the ELC runs training courses for CET4/6, IELTS and TOEFL. You are encouraged to attend these courses.
