APPOINTMENT OF FELLOWS FOR HKBU-UIC JOINT INSTITUTE OF RESEARCH STUDIES (JIRS)

Nominations/applications will be invited for appointment as JIRS-Fellow with the aim to promote research and development, the training and supervision of postgraduate students, postdoctoral studies and the interchange of knowledge, skills and technologies etc. The appointed Fellows, who should be teaching staff at the rank of Assistant Professor or above from HKBU or UIC, will be working as Principal Supervisor/Co-supervisor of MPhil/PhD students enrolled in the HKBU research programme in UIC. When these Fellows are appointed as Supervisors, the following guidelines of HKBU would be followed:

  1. An academic staff without any experience in research student supervision will begin as a co-supervisor; 
  2. At the graduation of a student that the staff has co-supervised, the staff may supervise MPhil students as the Principal Supervisor;
  3. At the graduation of the first MPhil student, the staff may supervise PhD students as the Principal Supervisor.

The fellowship award is for a period of five years. The appointed Fellow will not carry any honorarium, and may be provided with a post-doctoral fellow. Nominations/applications could be made at anytime during the year.

Successful candidates will be informed of the outcome of the nomination or application by the Director of JIRS.
