The Environment & Development Center (EDC) of Whole Person Education Office and the EDC Committee were founded in March 2008. By November of the same year the Center was fully operational with a complement of four staff. EDC's work focuses on UIC students with the aim of establishing an education module and system to develop the environmental awareness of the students. Through this module EDC has established a platform to assist student interest groups and to advise newly formed student clubs on establishment and development. 

    In addition, EDC will explore and establish environmental educational sites for long term programs by developing and strengthening external partnerships with relevant ecological reserves and communities in Zhuhai. The programs designed around these environmental education sites will provide real life opportunities for UIC students to participate in environmentally related projects, enabling the students to improve their environmental awareness through experiential learning and reflection.
