Mr. President, Professors, Parents, Fellow Graduates, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am Yang Chenxi, a graduate of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting this year. It is my honor to address all of you on behalf of the 2015 graduating students. First of all, I would like to thank all the parents, families, and friends who encouraged and supported us throughout our university education as we worked towards our undergraduate degrees. I would like to specially thank all UIC faculty members for their dedicated and professional support in the past four years. They have contributed immensely in helping us achieve this academic success today.

As we enter the next phase of our lives, we will never forget what we have learned at UIC. When we were freshmen, not many of us could have imagined how these four years in UIC would be. Looking back, you may share the same feeling with me that university life here is both challenging and rewarding. Apart from the mounting workload in our studies, we have developed ourselves under an open and liberal educational environment. Not only did we acquaint with friends from different provinces and different countries; interact with faculty members from different parts of the world, we also participated in training and internship that are linked to the real business environment. During these four years, we established our intellectual capabilities, critical thinking and global outlook.  Besides which, we begin to figure out who we are and who we want to be.

I still remember 4 years ago when I was deciding which university to go to, I was uncertain about UIC. At that time, UIC is quite young, but young means there is room for the future and we can help to build it. Now that we celebrate UIC’s tenth anniversary, not only did we see more and more of our graduates being admitted to world-class universities and multinational companies, we also experienced an innovative and international style of education. Thanks to UIC’s “whole person education” philosophy that nurtures students to become knowledge professionals, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners, we were groomed in an all-rounded manner, both spiritually and intellectually.  I was so glad that I chose to study at UIC.  I am sure all of you will agree with me that the knowledge and experiences we gained here are impeccable.

In closing, I would like to congratulate the graduating class of 2015.  Today is a milestone for us.  Graduation is not an end; it is the beginning of a new journey.  While we are celebrating our accomplishments today, we also have the confidence in overcoming every obstacle on our way to success.  Let us embrace our future with the UIC spirit:  innovate, progress and excel.  Yes, we are ready!  Thank you!
