UIC unveiled an agricultural brand research institute, an academy of global affairs, a food safety testing centre and more during the symposium on contributing to the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on 5 December.

The symposium was organised by UIC, China Good Agri-products Development and Service Association (CGASA), and the School of International Studies at Peking University.

Experts and academics from mainland China and Hong Kong witnessed the establishment of the Greater Bay Area Office of CGASA, Zhong You Agri-Brand Research Institute, the UIC Food Safety Testing Centre, the Academy of Global Affairs, and the practicum site for the School of International Studies at Peking University.

UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai mentioned that these institutes would be UIC’s new major initiatives to serve Zhuhai and the Greater Bay Area, as a result of producing students by coupling liberal arts with science, teaching with research, as well as local with global visions.

The UIC Food Safety Testing Centre is independent third party labs and will provide services in cooperation with Hong Kong Baptist University’s Department of Chemistry and State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis, as well as the Zhuhai Key Laboratory of Agriculture Product Quality and Food Safety located at UIC.

To expand on UIC’s vision of internationalisation, the Academy of Global Affairs will offer a variety of courses, workshops, seminars, visits and events to boost the exchange of talents from mainland China and Hong Kong.
